IELTS Computer Delivered Tests + Band Score

Speaking Score went from 8 to 6.5

by Hafsa

Hello everyone,

In every IELTS test that I have written, I have always got 8 in speaking, however this time I got 6.5. I put in a lot of effort to get the required band for Listening and Writing but I lost it all in speaking.

I got L:8.5, R:7.5, W:7 & S:6.5

My question is should I put it for remark? It costs 176$ (aud) and I am wondering if its worth it. But I need 8 in speaking so I am not sure if I will get an eight.

I am so tired and exhausted. This is the fourth time I wrote and frankly speaking I am just really annoyed that we have to write the whole test again. Why can't we just write the ones that we need to?

Thank you so much for any help and guidance.

Speaking Score Drop
by: IELTS buddy

Unless you are aware of a reason why your score may have dropped it does seem like yours is a good situation where a remark would be a good idea.

If you are a high level speaker and as you say you got 8 in your previous tests, it's difficult to see a reason why it would drop to 6.5 as that is quite a big difference in speaking ability.

Of course nobody can guarantee you that it will go up and if it does go up it's always possible it could perhaps go to 7.5 instead of 8, but it seems you should give it some serious consideration with regards to a remark (assuming of course your scores for the other modules are what you needed.
